Brass cleaners
/A committed team of Brass Cleaners care for memorial bells and plaques, rails at the High Altar and the magnificent Eagle Lectern. These all require special care using particular materials to clean them.
Each of the items cared for by the brass cleaners are historic artefacts in their own right. Many are memorials to Royal Engineers or Marines that lost their lives overseas in colonial conficts of the nineteenth century.
The brass cleaners work during quiet times on the Cathedral floor to dust, clean and polish the many brass elements around the Cathedral. Find our more about volunteering as a brass cleaner:
