Travel through Time at Rochester Cathedral this Autumn
/Explore humanity’s journey through the ages as Luxmuralis return to Rochester Cathedral from 30 September – 4 October 2025.
“We are looking forward to welcoming the wonderful Luxmuralis back to the Cathedral with their spectacular new show. Why not travel back in time and come and meet your ancestors!”
Time is an extraordinary light and sound spectacular guaranteed to captivate audiences. This marks the fifth visit by Luxmuralis to the historic Cathedral, following a series of previous sell-out shows.
Time invites audiences of all ages on an unforgettable journey through history, science and imagination. Visitors will traverse a series of captivating installations that explore humanity’s evolving relationship with the concept of time. From the earliest epochs to modern theories of relativity and inspired by the visionary text of H.G. Wells’ "The Time Machine," each projection immerses attendees in a dramatic narrative that stretches from the present day back to the origins of our planet.
Last year’s Scriptorium: The Illuminated Histories was a huge success at Rochester Cathedral, captivating visitors with stunning projections and immersive soundscapes. Featuring rare images from the cathedral’s own manuscripts alongside treasures from the British Library, the show brought Anglo-Saxon art and legends vividly to life.
“We’re so excited to bring Time to Rochester — an immersive journey that lets you step through the centuries in a completely new way. Through powerful light, sound, and storytelling, this installation transforms your surroundings and takes you from the present day all the way back through time itself. It’s not just something to watch — it’s something to feel, explore, and experience. Time allows thousands of visitors to wander through the artwork and lose themselves in the flow of the ages.”
Tickets for Time are now on sale, with advance booking highly recommended due to the popularity of previous Luxmuralis events at Rochester Cathedral. Don’t miss this chance to embark on a mesmerising voyage through history. For more information and to book tickets, visit the Rochester Cathedral website.

About the Artists
Luxmuralis’ is the name given to the artistic collaboration Peter Walker Sculptor and David Harper Composer, who specialise in immersive fine art, light and sound installations around the UK and abroad. Creating works across multiple media and presentation formats.
Luxmuralis create artwork that explores and develops the fine art tradition through new media, and place contemporary fine art, light, and sound production in an art historical context. Luxmuralis take art onto the streets and provide access to visual artwork in public as well as unexpected places.
Audiences are immersed in a fine art experience that bring ancient monumental and sacred spaces to life. Viewers become part of the artwork as they physically journey through the spectacular sound and light which is described as ‘evocative and powerful’ by hundreds of thousands who have experienced Luxmuralis.
Fine art, light and sound reflects closely on the history, heritage and art history of unique places and brings together the contemporary and the ancient. More than a light show, Luxmuralis create contemporary exhibitions whose core is always close to the sense of place, they are credited for creating the ‘stained glass windows of our time’ within sacred spaces.
Luxmuralis spectacular sound and light installations have been seen in a variety of places including most recently: St Paul’s Cathedral, The Tower of London, Westminster Abbey; Chatsworth House; St Pauls Minneapolis; Limburg Dom; Oxford City museums; and many UK Cathedrals.
