About the City of London Chamber Choir
On Saturday, 5th October 2002, members of the City of London Chamber Choir (CLCC) formed the core of the choir assembled by their conductor, Christopher Field, to sing at the Rochester Diocesan service for the admission and licensing of Readers and the retirement of Christopher’s brother, Canon John Field, as Warden of Readers held in the cathedral, an occasion reported on by David Webster in the November 2002 edition of the Rochester Link.
Despite having sung at numerous cathedrals across the length and breadth of England and Wales as well as the Royal Peculiars, St George’s Chapel, Windsor and Westminster Abbey, CLCC’s visit to sing the services on Sunday 24 July will be their first visit to Rochester since 2002. Christopher Field, whose links with the cathedral include singing in diocesan choir festivals as a boy and appearing as bass soloist in Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius conducted by Robert Ashfield in the late 1960s, is planning to include music with strong links to Rochester for the services
