Space Voyage Lightshow
Space Voyage was a spectacular internal sound and light show transforming the inside of the majestic Cathedral with scenes from cosmos and the history of spaceflight.
The show was been created by award winning artistic collaboration ‘Luxmuralis’, Peter Walker Sculptor and David Harper Composer, taking place on the evenings of the 5th, 6th and 7th October 2021.
About the artists
Artist Peter Walker and Composer David Harper are an artistic collaboration called Luxmuralis. Through Son-et-Lumiere, sculpture and sound art pieces they transform and reinterpret the sense of place and space in various locations creatively helping members of the public to take a physical and emotional journey to identify with the subject and message of the artwork.
Previous work by Luxmuralis has amazed tens of thousands at their spectacular artistic events in Germany, Italy and throughout the UK and now Luxmuralis come to Rochester with Space Voyage a wondrous immersive and experiential Son-et-Lumiere which has successfully been on tour and seen by around 50,000 people so far at Lichfield Cathedral, Oxford University Church, St Albans Cathedral , St Andrews Voices Festival, Exeter Cathedral, Sheffield Cathedral, and Carlisle Cathedral.
A spectacular experience
Space Voyage took visitors on an immersive journey though light and sound. The visual spectacular allowed viewers to go on a journey though space and time and gives visitors the chance to walk amongst the stars. Sound and light art were projected onto the stunning architectural features within the Cathedral and visitors were enveloped with bespoke music as they viewed and experienced a journey to the edge of the Universe and back. Visitors walked though projection art installations, were immersed in the sound and light, and had the chance to explore and contemplate their own personal journeys.
